Action Point IC: Entertainment Perspective

ACTION POINT I.  Institute a colorful, online training program, and a weekend training session, designed to improve meeting attendance and the rate of retention. The focus of these trainings is on how to plan, prepare, and present meetings and outings that are increasingly fun with positive outcomes. The training can initially be promoted through “Scouting Wire,” “Aaron on Scouting,” territory training leads, and commissioner service. The online course can be instituted in conjunction with other basic Scout leader trainings through Scouting U.

Aiming at Approaching Each Segment of the Troop Meeting’s Agenda From an Entertainment Perspective

1.Pre-opening Gathering Period – Ready to go, varied, and presented with enthusiasm, with “rewards” for successful participation.

2. Opening Ceremony – Well-presented, as per above guidelines for presenting ceremonies

3. SPL Announcements – Presented with enthusiasm and parameters for the inclusion of appropriate levity.

4. Group Instruction – Well-prepared and delivered with enthusiasm, enhanced with visuals and props.

5. Skills Instruction – Well-prepared, hands on, and delivered with  enthusiasm, enhanced with visuals and props.

6. Breakout Groups – Well-prepared and delivered with enthusiasm (pre-meeting communication is key).

7. Activity – Presented in accordance with the fundamental conditions for     successful activities.

8. Leader’s Minute – Presented with enthusiasm, confidence, and familiarity. Samples

9. Closing Ceremony – Well-presented, as per above guidelines for presenting ceremonies.
